Julia Child
One of my idols, Julia Child, was profiled on A&E Biography recently. I always liked the fact that she made French cooking accessible to the average American cook. I also knew about her early days at the OSS (pre-cursor to the CIA), but I didn't know about her mastectomy, devoted marriage of 48 years, and that she started The French Chef on PBS when she was 50. Amazing woman. Her kitchen is in the Smithsonian. I might buy her biography, Appetite for Life.
